Scar revision

Scar revision

What is it?

Scar revision aims to improve an unsightly, thick, widened or retracted scar after surgery, an injury or a burn.

Who is it for?

Anyone bothered by a scar, ideally once it has stabilised (often after one year).

How it is done

Consultation and choice of technique (surgical revision, plasty, injections, laser depending on the case).

Anaesthesia

Usually local anaesthesia.

Recovery

Local care, sun protection and scar massage.

The result

An improvement in appearance; a scar never disappears completely.

Risks

Like any procedure, this one carries risks that are rare but real (infection, haematoma, healing problems, asymmetry, reaction to anaesthesia...). They are explained in detail during the consultation, with written information.

The information on this website is general and does not replace a medical consultation. Any skin lesion that changes, bleeds or does not heal should be shown to a doctor. Every procedure carries risks, which are explained during the consultation.

Frequently asked questions

When should a scar be revised?

Usually when it is mature, often one year later, except in specific cases.

Is it reimbursed?

Dr Stroumza-Escoffier is contracted with the French national health insurance: medical procedures are reimbursed at the official rates, purely cosmetic procedures are not.

Where does the procedure take place?

At the practice, 11 rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré, 75008 Paris. Most procedures are performed under local anaesthesia and take less than 30 minutes.

I live abroad: how should I organise my trip?

Contact the practice by phone or e-mail. An examination in Paris is required; small lesions can often be removed during the same stay, and the laboratory results are sent to you.
