Reconstructive skin surgery

Reconstructive skin surgery

What is it?

After a lesion is removed (cancer, mole, cyst), reconstructive surgery rebuilds the skin to preserve appearance and function, especially on the face: simple suture, local flap or skin graft.

Who is it for?

Patients whose excision leaves a skin defect that cannot simply be closed.

How it is done

Choice of technique according to the area and the size of the defect, most often during the same procedure as the excision.

Anaesthesia

Usually local anaesthesia.

Recovery

Local care and monitoring of healing.

The result

The aim is a scar that is as discreet as possible.

Risks

Like any procedure, this one carries risks that are rare but real (infection, haematoma, healing problems, asymmetry, reaction to anaesthesia...). They are explained in detail during the consultation, with written information.

The information on this website is general and does not replace a medical consultation. Any skin lesion that changes, bleeds or does not heal should be shown to a doctor. Every procedure carries risks, which are explained during the consultation.

Frequently asked questions

Why a plastic surgeon?

Skin reconstruction, especially on the face, falls within plastic and reconstructive surgery.

Is it reimbursed?

Dr Stroumza-Escoffier is contracted with the French national health insurance: medical procedures are reimbursed at the official rates, purely cosmetic procedures are not.

Where does the procedure take place?

At the practice, 11 rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré, 75008 Paris. Most procedures are performed under local anaesthesia and take less than 30 minutes.

I live abroad: how should I organise my trip?

Contact the practice by phone or e-mail. An examination in Paris is required; small lesions can often be removed during the same stay, and the laboratory results are sent to you.
